🍃 Viticulture practice: Organic/Biodynamic

2022 Fontanasanta Nosiola from Azienda Agricola Foradori is a distinctive white wine crafted from the indigenous Nosiola grape variety, native to Trentino. Sourced from the Fontanasanta hills above Trento, this wine reflects the unique terroir of clay-limestone soils and the area's rich biodiversity. Traditionally linked to the production of 'Vino Santo' in the Valle dei Laghi, Nosiola is now vinified as a dry wine, showcasing its versatility.

In the glass, the Fontanasanta Nosiola presents a pale golden hue. The nose is subtle yet complex, offering aromas of wildflowers, green apple, and a hint of hazelnut—a nod to its name's origin, as "Nosiola" is believed to derive from "nosiol," the local dialect for hazelnut. On the palate, it is elegant and mineral-driven, with a delicate structure and a lingering finish that speaks to its alpine origins.

Vinification & Winemaking:

Hand-harvested from biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Fontanasanta hills.
Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts.
Undergoes skin maceration to extract structure and aroma, a traditional method for Nosiola.
Aged in acacia casks to enhance its delicate profile.

Established in 1901, Azienda Agricola Foradori is a renowned winery located in Mezzolombardo, within the Trentino region of Northern Italy. The Foradori family has been instrumental in revitalizing indigenous grape varieties, particularly Teroldego, through meticulous massal selections and biodynamic farming practices. In 2002, the estate transitioned to biodynamic agriculture, achieving Demeter certification in 2009. Today, the winery is managed by the fourth generation—Emilio, Theo, and Myrtha Zierock—who continue to uphold the family's commitment to producing authentic and expressive wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Dolomites.

The estate's vineyards are situated in the Campo Rotaliano and the Fontanasanta hills, where they cultivate varieties such as Teroldego, Nosiola, and Manzoni Bianco. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentations, and aging in various vessels, including amphorae and large oak casks, to preserve the purity and character of the fruit.
