If you know Château Rayas, the most mythical name in Châteauneuf du Pape, then you already know the hands behind these wines. Emmanuel Reynaud farms Domaine des Tours and Château des Tours in the Vaucluse the same way his family has always worked: old vines, patient cellars, and a total refusal to release a wine before it is ready. That last habit explains something unusual about this page. You will find vintages here going back to 2001, and they are not dusty leftovers. They are current releases, held at the estate until Reynaud decided they were drinking well.
The range wears humble clothes on purpose. Vin de Pays de Vaucluse on the label, Rayas thinking in the bottle. The Merlots and Merlot Syrah blends age into something silky and savory that tastes far above their appellation. The whites, Clairette and Grenache Blanc, have that waxy, sunlit calm the family is famous for. Then the Grenache heart of the house: Côtes du Rhône Réserve and Grande Réserve, and a Vacqueyras with real spine. Nobody else in the southern Rhône offers this combination of pedigree and patience at these prices, which is exactly why allocations vanish.
Treat this page like a cellar door. Browse across vintages, compare a young Réserve to a fifteen year old Merlot, and build a vertical of your own. These pour beautifully with daube, roast lamb, mushrooms, anything slow and savory.
