🍃 Viticulture practice: Organic/Biodynamic

2022 Morei from Azienda Agricola Foradori is a profound expression of Teroldego, reflecting the unique terroir of the Morei vineyard in the Campo Rotaliano plain. The name "Morei" translates to "moro" or "dark" in the Trentino dialect, alluding to the wine's deep color and intense character. The vineyard's alluvial soils, rich in pebbles and sand deposited by the Noce River, impart a distinctive minerality and density to the wine. In the glass, Morei reveals a deep, dark hue, indicative of its concentration. The nose is expressive, offering aromas of ripe black fruits, earthy undertones, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with firm tannins and a vibrant acidity that provides balance and freshness. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a lasting impression of its alpine origins.

Vinification & Winemaking:

Fermentation: The grapes undergo fermentation in Spanish clay amphorae (Tinajas from Villarrobledo), with an extended maceration on the skins for 8 months. This method allows for a pure and balanced transformation, with minimal external influence.
Aging: Following fermentation, the wine continues to mature in the same amphorae, enhancing its textural complexity and preserving the integrity of the fruit.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Established in 1901, Azienda Agricola Foradori is a renowned winery located in Mezzolombardo, within the Trentino region of Northern Italy. The Foradori family has been instrumental in revitalizing indigenous grape varieties, particularly Teroldego, through meticulous massal selections and biodynamic farming practices. In 2002, the estate transitioned to biodynamic agriculture, achieving Demeter certification in 2009. Today, the winery is managed by the fourth generation—Emilio, Theo, and Myrtha Zierock—who continue to uphold the family's commitment to producing authentic and expressive wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Dolomites.

The estate's vineyards are situated in the Campo Rotaliano and the Fontanasanta hills, where they cultivate varieties such as Teroldego, Nosiola, and Manzoni Bianco. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentations, and aging in various vessels, including amphorae and large oak casks, to preserve the purity and character of the fruit.
