Located in Gevrey-Chambertin within Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, Domaine Fourrier has been a family-run estate for five generations. The modern history of the domaine began in the 1930s with Fernand Pernot, who bequeathed the estate to his nephew, Jean-Claude Fourrier, in 1969. In 1994, Jean-Claude's son, Jean-Marie Fourrier, took over the estate after training under the legendary Henri Jayer and gaining experience at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon. Jean-Marie implemented a non-interventionist approach, reducing the use of new oak and avoiding filtration and herbicides, with the exception of de-stemming the grapes. The domaine is renowned for its holdings in prestigious vineyards, including the Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jacques, with vines dating back over a century. Jean-Marie's philosophy emphasizes moderation and respect for the vineyard, resulting in wines that are celebrated for their elegance, purity, and expression of terroir.
