About the Producer
Houas Boukella is one of the natural wine world's most intriguing new voices, an Algerian vigneron from the Berber region of Kabylia in the Tell Atlas mountains who arrived in the Anjou in 2019 and, after training under the iconoclastic Patrick Desplats, launched his own micro-production project in 2022. Working from his wife's family farm in Rochefort-sur-Loire, Houas grows Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon, and Grolleau Gris with radical low-intervention principles: long macerations and aging in buried Georgian amphorae submerged directly in the earth. The result is a handful of small-batch cuvées of extraordinary freshness, complexity, and living energy that have caused a sensation in the natural wine world. Already among the Loire's most sought-after and limited releases.
