🍇 Grape: Riesling

🌍 Country: Germany

📍 Region: Mosel

🍃 Viticulture practice: Sustainable viticulture

2018 Alte Reben from Weingut Carl Loewen is a distinguished dry Riesling crafted from vines aged up to 70 years, rooted in the steep, slate-rich slopes of the Mosel region. This wine exemplifies the depth and complexity achievable from mature vines.

In the glass, it presents a golden-green hue. The nose offers good intensity and acidity in the fruit, with pleasant green apple notes and a mineral character. On the palate, it is big and soft, full-bodied with luscious acidity, good dryness, some bitter notes, and a mineral finish.
Vinification & Winemaking:

Fermentation: Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts in traditional Fuder barrels, honoring the estate's commitment to minimal intervention.
Aging: Matured on fine lees to enhance texture and complexity, resulting in a wine that balances power with finesse.
