🌍 Country: Italy

📍 Region: Vigneti delle Dolomiti

🍃 Viticulture practice: Organic/Biodynamic

2021 Foradori Teroldego is a quintessential expression of the Teroldego grape, cultivated in the Campo Rotaliano plain of Trentino. This wine is crafted from grapes grown in various micro-zones within the plain, each characterized by predominantly sandy soils. The unique composition of these soils, enriched over centuries by the Noce River's deposits of limestone, granite, and porphyritic debris, imparts a distinctive minerality to the wine.

In the glass, the Foradori Teroldego displays a deep ruby hue. The nose is vibrant, offering aromas of ripe red and black fruits, such as blackberry and cherry, intertwined with floral notes and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a harmonious balance of acidity and tannins, leading to a fresh and persistent finish.

Vinification & Winemaking:

Fermentation: The grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation in cement tanks, utilizing indigenous yeasts to preserve the authentic character of the Teroldego variety.
Aging: The wine is aged for 12 months in a combination of cement tanks and wooden barrels, allowing for the development of complexity while maintaining the purity of fruit.

Established in 1901, Azienda Agricola Foradori is a renowned winery located in Mezzolombardo, within the Trentino region of Northern Italy. The Foradori family has been instrumental in revitalizing indigenous grape varieties, particularly Teroldego, through meticulous massal selections and biodynamic farming practices. In 2002, the estate transitioned to biodynamic agriculture, achieving Demeter certification in 2009. Today, the winery is managed by the fourth generation—Emilio, Theo, and Myrtha Zierock—who continue to uphold the family's commitment to producing authentic and expressive wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Dolomites.

The estate's vineyards are situated in the Campo Rotaliano and the Fontanasanta hills, where they cultivate varieties such as Teroldego, Nosiola, and Manzoni Bianco. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentations, and aging in various vessels, including amphorae and large oak casks, to preserve the purity and character of the fruit.
