About this wine
The 2023 Domaine A.-F. Gros Bourgogne Pinot Noir is the entry-level regional bottling from Anne-Françoise Gros' Vosne-Romanée family domaine — and like the better Bourgogne cuvées of the Côte de Nuits, it punches well above its appellation. The fruit is drawn from young-vine parcels in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, declassified to Bourgogne but vinified with the same care and patience Gros applies to her village and 1er Cru bottlings. Hand-harvested, sorted, fully de-stemmed in cooler vintages and partially whole-cluster in warmer ones, native-yeast fermentation, 12 months in older Burgundian barrels with minimal new oak. The 2023 vintage in the Côte de Nuits produced wines of fresh aromatics and supple texture, balancing classical red fruit with a touch of vintage generosity.
Expect bright cherry, raspberry, rose petal, a touch of forest floor, fine-grained tannins, and the lacy structure that defines Anne-Françoise Gros' style — a wine that drinks beautifully young but rewards three to five years in the cellar. Genuine Côte de Nuits character at a Bourgogne price.
About Domaine A.-F. Gros
Domaine A.-F. Gros, based in Pommard, is the estate of Anne-Françoise Gros — a fourth-generation Burgundian and daughter of François Gros, who divided the historic Domaine Jean Gros holdings among his children in the 1980s. Anne-Françoise inherited her share of the family's Vosne-Romanée vineyards, married François Parent of Domaine Parent in Pommard, and together they craft wines from both Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune terroirs. Her holdings include Grand Cru parcels in Echezeaux and Richebourg, Premier Crus in Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées and Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveau, and village bottlings across the Côte. The wines combine the deep family lineage of the Gros clan (alongside Anne Gros, Michel Gros, and Gros Frère et Sœur) with the refined cellar work of one of Burgundy's quietly respected producers. Allocations are small and the wines age beautifully.
