Son of a Champagne winegrowing family from the village of Aÿ, Romain Hénin took over the family estate with his brother Thomas and relaunched it under a new name: La Bulle Libre. He launched directly into organic farming and biodynamics under the tutelage of Sébastien Mouzon, working toward full Demeter certification. L'Odyssée Pétillante is the first chapter of this new venture — Champagnes made entirely without inputs and without added sulphites. Agroforestry is a strong direction he has also committed to, and all wines are vinified without inputs starting from the 2022 harvest. Romain is among the most exciting voices in a new generation of grower Champagne makers shaking up what the appellation can be.
