About the Producer
Thomas Popy is one of the Jura's most quietly celebrated and reclusive producers, a Beaujolais native who trained under Julie Balagny, Michel Guignier, and the legendary Pierre Overnoy before settling in the village of Mesnay near Arbois in 2015. From less than two hectares of Chardonnay, Savagnin, and Trousseau spread across exceptional parcels in Mesnay, Pupillin, and Montigny-lès-Arsures, Thomas produces an infinitesimally small quantity of wines, bottled by hand, barrel by barrel, without additions or sulfur, that have earned an almost mythic status among natural wine devotees. When asked to describe his philosophy, he simply says: "patience, trust, and silence." His fleeting, limited releases are among the most hunted and treasured bottles in the entire natural wine world.
