About the Producer
Moric is Roland Velich's landmark estate in Burgenland, eastern Austria, the project that has single-handedly elevated Blaufränkisch from a regional curiosity to an international benchmark for fine red wine. Working with old-vine Blaufränkisch from ancient Pannonian soils of clay, limestone, and iron-rich slate, Roland produces wines of breathtaking complexity, tension, and longevity that capture the wild, spiced, and mineral character of this indigenous variety at its absolute peak. All viticulture is organic, yields are tiny, and the cellar is run with minimal intervention, no fining, no filtration, and a refusal to follow trend. Moric's village wines and single-vineyard bottlings have won a devoted global following and represent some of the greatest value in all of serious European fine wine.
