Founded in 1974, Domaine Labet has been a pioneer in redefining Jura winemaking. The estate was one of the first to adopt the "Ouillé" method, producing fresher, less oxidative wines while still honoring the region’s traditional styles. Today, Julien Labet leads the domaine, crafting wines with a deep respect for terroir and a focus on single-plot vinification.
Julien trained at Domaine Ramonet, where he mastered Burgundian techniques such as small-barrel aging on fine lees, which he integrates into his winemaking in Jura. His approach balances tradition and modernity—most of his whites are non-oxidative and topped up, while select cuvées follow the classic "vin de voile" aging method in ancient foudres.
With vines averaging 60+ years old, Domaine Labet farms organically, avoiding chemicals and minimizing sulfur usage. The wines are meticulously labeled with details on varietals, acidity levels, and soil types, reflecting their commitment to transparency and purity.
About the Producer
Founded in 1974, Domaine Labet has been a quiet pioneer in redefining Jura winemaking over two generations. Today led by Julien Labet, the estate was among the first in the region to champion the ouillé (non-oxidative) style for Chardonnay and Savagnin, producing wines of striking freshness and precision that opened a new chapter for the Jura. Farming organically across some 12 hectares of extraordinary terroir in Rotalier, including limestone and blue marl parcels that produce Chardonnay of almost Burgundian finesse, Labet works with native yeasts, no added sulfur, and the patience to allow each wine its full expression. His limited-production, estate-bottled wines are benchmarks of modern Jura winemaking and among the most sought-after in the natural wine world.
