About the Producer
Château Filhot is a historic 2nd Grand Cru Classé Sauternes estate, one of the Barsac-Sauternes appellation's largest and most architecturally spectacular properties. Owned by the de Vaucelles family, the château sits on a magnificent 18th-century estate with over 60 hectares of Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle planted on deep sandy gravels. Filhot produces Sauternes in a lighter, more delicate style than some of its more opulent neighbours, elegant, floral, and refreshingly accessible, with golden stone fruit, honey, and a lifted acidity that makes it versatile with food. A rare treasure in the world of sweet wine, and one of the most historically important addresses in all of Bordeaux.
